Through the Lens
by Honey A. Hutson
We are all on a journey. It’s as simple as that. We started that journey when first stretched out in our mother’s womb and were propelled into the world kicking and screaming. From our first breath we set foot on what was our path and no one else’s. Different people will travel alongside us for long stretches, but the journey is ours to transverse.
For some that will happen all in one place, but there will be small journeys within. Time and events propel us forward whether we want it or not. Change comes, people come and go, life in and of itself is a transient thing and everything within its boundaries grows and changes. Movement is part of living, no life is completely stagnant for very long.
For others, the journey is life. The movement, the twists and turns, and exploring that existence is what makes us feel alive. I am one of these people. Ever moving and changing, eyes always on the horizon. I’ll never get there of course, because the horizon is by its very nature always out there, in the distance. But it’s the discovery and documentation of what is between me and the horizon that drives the explorer in me to seek. So, join me as I wander, camera in one hand, pen in the other, mind ever on the search for not only the shot but the deeper meaning of the intricacies within my journey.
