I have long played with the idea of the journey. At first as a writer, eventually as a photographer, but it’s so much deeper than that. The expedition is our journey of discovery. Of our humanity, of our environment, of what we are as a person to every other life we touch. We are not the same person to any one individual. We are a friend to some, influencer to others, lover, mother, father, daughter and the list goes on: each depending on the interaction and circumstances of that relationship.
Life is a pilgrimage where we find our way through all the intricacies of all the places, relationships, experiences, ups and downs, struggles, failures and triumphs. In our consciousness they are a series of pictures, sometimes sensory memories of smells or the feeling of a cool breeze on our skin. The feeling of floating in water or of the touch of a loved one. The journey means different things to each of us at different times in our lives. That is the essence of our individual odyssey: movement. Whether it’s physical or emotional, reaching milestones, achieving goals or just the act of getting to these places. The journey is an integral part of every one our lives. Whether we’re building lasting foundations or free floating through our existence, it’s all part of our journey.
